The Magic of the Supradermis
When your skin
tells the story

When your skin
tells the story
Think of your skin.
Yeah — the dermis, the epidermis, the hypodermis. The biological structure.
But beyond that… think of your skin.
What else is it?
Think beyond the atoms that gather in the form of freckles and scars.
Think beyond the idea of a 3D canvas that wraps your body.
Your skin — that protective fortress that holds your insides and is the key to pain and pleasure.
Your skin — that omnipresent layer of sensibility, the frontier between the seen and the unseen.
Paradoxically, your skin — your largest organ, the one that holds your identity in your fingerprints — has been colonized.
It’s been used as a billboard.
Claimed by marketing executives and turned into fertile soil for advertising strategies and corporate narratives — through skincare, makeup, and fragrance. There’s nothing wrong with participating in brand stories if that’s what you want — but remember: your skin is yours, and you make the rules.
At Scents Menu, we want to redefine the relationship with perfume and fragrance in a way that feels intentional, fun, and assertive — to tell our own stories instead of letting someone else tell them through us.
This is an invitation to reclaim what is yours — to reach a new space that has always been within our reach but rarely acknowledged: the Supradermis.
The Supradermis — a term we coined to describe that unseen layer of the skin (“supra” for over, “dermis” as the biological term) — is the projecting realm of the skin: the space that communicates, interacts, and protects.
In this manifesto, we explore how our skin interacts with others through the sensory pulse of fragrance — and how it carries symbolic and emotional meaning.
Your skin is constantly speaking — through hormones, sweat, and yes, through fragrance.
It interacts with strangers on public transport and invites that first passionate kiss with your Tinder match.
It enhances the persona you choose to embody in each moment. It can intimidate, entice, intrigue, express uniqueness or familiarity — and speak of the invisible side of you: your feelings, your mood, your intention, your mindset.
Your skin is your terrain, and you don’t need to follow anyone’s rules.
Fragrance culture has sold us the idea that we must smell a certain way to project a specific image. There’s nothing wrong with that — but remember: those ideas are yours to break if you wish.
You can own your scent with pride and devotion. In a rebellious act of reclaiming what is ours, we can mix fragrances or wear them however we want — through layering, experimenting, and playing.
After all, as in a “we are all born naked — the rest is drag” kind of way, your skin already has a personal scent that interacts with any fragrance you wear. Body temperature, habits, hormones — they’re all part of your signature.
Layering is already happening. This is just an invitation to have fun with it — to use scent intentionally.
Your skin is how you interact with others — but it’s also how you connect with yourself.
You can, and should, wear fragrance to soothe yourself or to set your mind in a desired state.
The Supradermis can be a comfort blanket or an ecstatic trance when courage feels out of reach.
When you create your own layering mix, you tap into that childlike wonder of exploration and play.
Like a magician crafting your own potion, you reclaim your scent space — intimate, personal, yours.

Like a magician crafting your own potion, you reclaim your scent space — intimate, personal, yours.
Don’t let others define you.
You know yourself better than any marketing executive ever could.
Intentional fragrance carries the aspects of you that you’re reaching to materialize — as a time-bending prediction of who you are becoming.
You don’t need to conform or chase trends.
You are you — and there’s a reason why no one else has your fingerprint.
Rock yourself unapologetically.
At Scents Menu, we invite you to reclaim your skin as your land — to own it assertively and unapologetically.
Here, you’ll find content on identity, fragrance, and layering — ways to break the status quo and use perfume as a medium of self-expression rather than conformity.
Because your skin is your story, and only you get to write it. ✨
